PYROMANIA. pyromania is an impulse-control disorder that causes pathological fire-setting behaviour. it is underpinned by tension affective arousal before the act, as well as gratification or relief when setting fires or when witnessing / participating in their aftermath. note: not all arsonists are pyromaniacs. although all of the fire-raisers are arsonists, firefox is the only pyromaniac of the lot.firefox's pyromania developed after being sold to the fire-raisers; he displayed no symptoms of the conduct disorder while living with his parents. in response to harsh and dire circumstances, the compulsions became a maladaptive coping mechanism. by early adolescence, felix, who had prior only been known by the moniker of "fox", was given the prefix "fire-" due to his fire-setting propensity and proficiency.firefox's compulsions arise as a result of unbearable feelings of frustration and helplessness. his lack of control over his own life, beginning in childhood and perpetuating into adulthood, cause intolerable anxiety and overwhelming tension. by setting something on fire, thereby exerting the ultimate control over life, death, and destruction, he feels momentary yet powerful relief. although spurred on by intrusive thoughts, each fire that he sets is executed with purpose and precision. firefox is not ignorant to the aftermaths and effects of his actions; rather, the rush, fascination, and relief he experiences are enough to justify the violent means to a satisfactory end. although he suffers both physical and mental trauma from his actions, he is unable to curb his compulsions.
ALCOHOLISM. many lives have met their cruel and graphic ends at firefox's hands. despite his callous airs, watching people burn to death has had an irreparable effect on him. plagued by guilt, trauma, and subsequent depression, firefox drinks to forget.to help reconcile his subconscious needs and conscious inability to cope with the consequences thereof, he has taken to heavy drinking. he knows better than to let his addiction spill into the facets of daily life, and thus confines his alcoholism to the hours of the night. even so, his increasingly choleric nature and impatience can be attributed to the effects of drinking a lot and sleeping little –– if at all. dogged by persistent nightmares and sleep terrors, firefox frequently drinks himself into a stupor that ends in unconsciousness. anything to keep from dreaming.his alcoholism is well-known amongst the court; though it is the subject of many crude jokes, the fact that it does not blatantly affect his competency as a commander preserves the security of his position. many of the nobles write his alcoholism off as a reflection of his lowborn genes.firefox is acutely aware of the impact of the alcohol on his body. he understands that he is walking a precarious line that can only end in death; whether out of arrogance or indifference, however, he does not defer to his better judgement. unwilling to change his ways or treat the underlying cause, he continues to spiral further and further out of control. if he had not died by the sword, he would have died by the bottle –– sooner rather than later.
SWORDSMANSHIP. firefox is a dual-wielder who favours speed and agility over displays of brute force. rather than exerting strength and energy by constantly parrying blows in a head-on sword fight, he prefers to dodge and outmaneuver his enemies. quick on his feet and dangerously overbold, he often evades oncoming attacks, not by jumping out of the way but by coming closer. once within striking distance, it is difficult to defend against him due to the use of two swords. he often slashes with one — typically at the arms or legs — and stabs with the other. firefox is also not above utilizing acrobatics to take enemies by surprise. he will gladly jump off a horse or leap off of walls to unbalance foes while sinking his swords into their necks and backs. vicious and unpredictable, his swordsmanship makes him a dangerous opponent.trained principally as a street fighter, there was no need to utilize shields or consider the risks of long-range weapons. the use of two close-range twin swords became a dangerous disadvantage when the fire-raisers faced the armies of lombrica; staring down arrow-shafts and plated armour, firefox, accustomed to duels rather than wars, knew he stood on the losing side. understanding that the fire-raisers were outnumbered and under-equipped, he did what he knew best: he outfoxed them by weaponizing fire.
USE OF FIRE. prior to fox’s leadership, the fire-raisers used fire primarily to raze buildings and destroy crops. it was, above all else, a tool for pillaging and ransoming. murder was a byproduct. once firefox assumed succession, he invested in weaponizing fire for purposes beyond wanton destruction. the alchemists he employed created a chemical powder that, when set alight, burns so hot that it incinerates almost everything in its path within seconds. when stored in barrels or pitchers and set on fire, it explodes with great force.when confronted by the armies of prince cosimo, firefox understood that he and his men could not win an outright battle. after suffering heavy losses, he lured cosimo and the lombrican armies into the fire-raiser’s stronghold. once inside, the gates were shut and barred. the basement and its monumental store of alchemist fire was set alight. the soldiers and their prince perished in the flames while the remaining fire-raisers escaped. following this victory, fox continues to use fire — both chemical and not — to his advantage. under his command, the argentan army uses fire to divide enemy forces, destroy their stockpiles, and outright burn soldiers alive in their armour.
IMMORTALITY. firefox was destined to die at the hands of cosimo during the battle between the fire-raisers and the lombrican army. his death was written into the natural progression of the plot; when fenoglio wrote inkheart, he never intended for firefox to survive beyond the age of twenty-five. and yet he did. overcoming his own fate by killing cosimo, he lived some ten years longer than intended. a decade passed, but he was never written to be any older than the age at which he was meant to die. he, as well as the other surviving fire-raisers, do not physically age beyond the year at which they were slated to die.even before the inhabitants of the inkworld come to know that they are characters in fenoglio's book, firefox seems vaguely aware that he is meant to be dead. his mind remembers his death, even if his body does not, and the ageless immortality disturbs him more than it comforts him.
IMMORTALITY 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO. at the silver prince’s behest, an arcane book is bound. an individual need only write their name on one of its pages in order to become not only ageless, but also impervious to death. due to his scornful doubt of the book's legitimacy, firefox is forced into being the first person to test the its magic. he is made to write his name, after which he is promptly run through by a sword. despite bleeding from the wound and experiencing the pain of it, he does not die — proving to the court that the book truly does grant true immortality. the only way to kill an individual is to write the words “ink, spell,” and “death” beneath their name. unfortunately for firefox, his master soon decides that he has no desire for an immortal herald — particularly not one with a history of insubordination — and has the fateful words inscribed. firefox immediately succumbs to the sword wound, collapsing to the floor and bleeding out in the middle of court.
CANON. firefox lives in the inkworld –– a universe, created by italian author fenoglio, that exists between the pages of inkheart. after magic interferes with the original plot of the book, the characters take on a lives and arcs of their own. as well as surviving the death that had been written for him, firefox succeeds his former master and takes command over a group of organized outlaws and bandits who pillage and burn villages across the land. after overplaying their hand, he and the rest of the fire-raisers are forcibly recruited into the ranks of the adderhead –– the ruler of the authoritarian kingdom of argenta. firefox is made an argentan noble and becomes the silver prince's herald, general, and de-facto executioner. he serves as an enforcer who helps the adderhead rule his domain with an iron fist. at least until his insubordination gets him on the king’s shit list.THE WITCHER. the fire-raisers occupy a bandit camp outside of novigrad, wreaking havoc on the surrounding farms. they are eventually brought to heel by the militancy of the church of eternal fire. those who survive the cleansing of novigrad are given a choice: repent and serve the church or else die at the stake. firefox, irreparably unpious but willing to engage in the game, is sent to the witch-hunters. he serves king radovid in his campaign against magic users, often being dispatched across the land to track down mages. with the remaining fire-raisers functioning as a hunting party and the spies of the redanian empire at his disposal, firefox –– despite lacking the religious convictions of the church of eternal fire –– becomes one of the more effective witch-hunters in the realm.ASOIAF / GOT. firefox is a soldier in an illegitimate sect of the lord of the light, led by a corrupt red priest who preys on the poor in the name of r'hllor. the group are little more than well-organized bandits, turning fire against non-believers to pillage rather than purify them. as outlaws and enemies of the crown, the fire-raisers have often faced armed consequences for their violent swindling of devout and desperate peasants. firefox has been struck down no less then four times, only to be brought back to life by the kiss of life. when the priest disappears under mysterious circumstances, firefox, a non-believer, assumes leadership of the temple. this destroys any remaining pretence of the group's religious authenticity.FIRE & BLOOD / HOTD. the fire-raisers occupy a small fortress in the westerlands, constantly at odds with the lannisters of casterly rock. as the dance of dragons escalates into wanton chaos and the civilian death tolls rise, the fire-raisers seize their chance. firefox leads his gang of outlaws across the westerlands, putting town and field to flame. in a war of dragons, the slew of fires hardly seem out of place, and with lannister forces engaged on behalf of the greens, the fire-raisers face little opposition in their escapades. firefox has been known to claim allegiance to queen rhaenyra and the black targaryens in order to legitimize his criminal wrongdoings as acts of war — but really, his campaign against the lannisters is nothing more than the product of petty dispute and personal gain. too bad for him that it puts the fire-raisers in direct conflict with the greens.ACOTAR. firefox grows up in the fertile outskirts of the autumn court, toiling in the same poverty as all the court’s farmers. his mother is lesser fae, his father high fae — and it is from him that he has inherited a sliver of fire magic. he is sent to serve in beron’s forces when he is still a boy, supplementing his parents’ income with his own, meagre wage. he grows up on the fringes of the autumn court, unable to ascend the ranks due to his status as lesser fae. after decades of poor treatment and futile politicking, firefox defects to hybern at the first sign of war, taking a small force of autumn court soldiers with him. when prythian emerges victorious, he seeks out briallyn and koschei — only to come face to face with beron: the very same high lord he once betrayed.
GRISHAVERSE ARC I: KETTERDAM. ages 16-23. the fire-raisers are a lesser gang, scorned by boss and merchant alike for their unsanctioned use of fire and demolition within the barrel. felix is an inferni, indentured to capricorn after the failure of his family’s farm in southern kerch. years pass, during which felix ascends to deputy of the fire-raisers. the barrel-bosses eventually have capricorn killed over ongoing disputes about his use of fire, and felix assumes leadership. with capricorn gone, a merchant reformist seeking political office sets out to eliminate the fire-raisers for good. felix flees to the countryside, goading the merchant and his force of stadwatch to follow. he baits them into a storehouse on his family’s old estate and sets it ablaze, killing all those inside. he fakes his death in the blaze and, before the dust has settled, leaves for ravka.GRISHAVERSE ARC II: RAVKA. age 23 onward. upon arriving in ravka, felix reestablishes himself under his alias: firefox. he does not enlist in the second army, despite the mounting pressure of anti-grisha sentiment. instead, he forms a new gang in the territory of west ravka, using his abilities to loot and plunder an already fractured population. when the shadow fold crumbles, he expands his operations into east ravka. the fire-raisers exist on the fringes of ravkan society, comprised of grisha and non-grisha alike. in the wake of looming war, they capitalize on chaos and uncertainty to commit their crimes with little interference from the state. firefox is an exceptionally powerful inferni, but his allegiances are fickle and his temperament unpredictable. although he would be an asset for the second army, he would also be an incredible risk.DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. human fighter ( marauder ) with a criminal background. firefox is scouring faerûn on an aimless — but not entirely dispassionate — quest to solve the sudden disappearance of his employer-turned-surrogate-father. prior to the beginning of his journey, he fled baldur’s gate to avoid the wrath of the guild, whom he wronged during his time as the kingpin of tumbledown. from time-to-time, he takes on contract killings as a means to earn coin; from time-to-time, some hunter sent by the guild tries to murder him in his sleep. chaotic evil with neutral tendencies. not anyone’s favourite travel companion, by any means — but at least he’s proficient in dual wielding. FULL VERSE DESCRIPTION. arc i takes places in baldur’s gate, during his time as the kingpin of tumbledown and associate of the guild. arc ii takes place across faerûn as he attempts to flee the consequences of his past.BALDUR'S GATE III. recruitable party member or npc the gang meets along the way? you decide. similar to the general d&d verse, but capricorn is abducted and turned by mindflayers. investigating his disappearance leads firefox on a journey of discovery: despite being entirely unqualified and hopelessly out of his league, he begins to unravel the going-ons of the mind flayers and their loyalists. not infected, and if you choose to eat tadpoles he’ll judge you for it.

it is said that no one in all the world knows exactly when argenta and lombrica fell at each other’s throats. the war always was and always would be, the old folk said. felix was born sometime during its sprawling years, though no one could ever be sure whether it was closer to the end or to the beginning. on a farm between the moors that lay beyond the wayless woods, a farmer and his wife welcomed their middle child. they named him felix, and for the next half a decade the story is insignificant amongst the legends of how heroes and villains are made.by all accounts, the family was poor. peasants often were, even in lombrica. the rolling hills of the midmoors were not well-suited to fertile soil, the plains not populated enough to make for prosperous trade. when felix was seven years old, the eldest sibling –––– falke, himself only thirteen –––– enlisted in the lombrican army. men-at-arms, it was always said, earned enough money to support their families. war was a prosperous enterprise, after all. felix, who idolized falke the way that brothers often do, picked up a stick, pretended it was a sword, and fancied himself a knight forever thereafter.the family was proud of their eldest, believing themselves supporters of the righteous lombrican forces and detractors of the oppressive argentans. felix would convince fiona, the youngest of the siblings, to pretend at being an argentan general. then he would smack her across the arms with a tree branch until she yelled at him to stop. he considered these to be noble victories. this lasted only until his tenth birthday, when he wandered into the wayless wood in search of firewood for the hearth.past the pine with the hollow trunk lay a woman cloaked in red. a necklace of white jewels was resting against her collarbone. a trio of soldiers stood to the side of her, their metal bodies swaying with laughter. as he crept closer, felix realized the woman was presently quite dead. she only had the memory of a face, and it was the blood that came from it which dressed her scarlet. the jewels that crowned her were no jewels at all, but a row of her own broken teeth. felix leapt up to confront the argentan soldiers, only to keel over and vomit on his boots. when the men turned towards him, it was not the striped snake of argenta on their breastplates. it was the lion of lombrica. he blinked, and for a moment the strangers all wore his brother’s face. felix scrabbled to his feet and fled into the wood. somewhere, a sparrow was screaming in a woman’s voice.falke died a year later. they say he died a soldier’s death, but, in his newfound knowledge, this prospect horrified felix more than it comforted him. when the body was finally returned to the farm, the only thing left they could recognize the boy by was the red of his hair. the funeral pyre was a small, pathetic thing, for wood was scarce that year.no one noticed, but egred –––– the father of the family –––– began accruing debts to a very dangerous man. a loan here, a loan there. a promise to repay once the crops began to thrive again. egred was not a bad man; he was, however, known for his love of drink and tendency towards foolish decisions. the farm had been faltering for years, and the only way to purchase grain for the livestock was to borrow coin from a crime-lord by the name of capricorn. when falke died, and the soldier’s salary with it, he knew it was no longer possible to make good on the debts. the game was up, and he had lost. the family faced a very real threat in the face of capricorn and his looting fire-raisers. a smartly placed torch would put an end to the farm forever.nobody knows how parents make impossible choices between their children. perhaps felix reminded egred too much of falke. perhaps capricorn only wanted boys for his band of outlaws. perhaps it simply seemed most fair to condemn the sibling with the greatest chance of survival. felix never knew and no one ever said. whatever the case, the fire-raisers came one day to make good on debts owed, and egred’s only remaining son was sold off to capricorn. every family is a cruel, intransigent monarchy. war may have taught him that all lives had a price, but it was egred who taught him that some were worth more than others. and soon enough, capricorn would teach him that some were worth nothing at all.

they called him fox — stripped a child of his humanity and made of him a wild animal. he wasn’t a person; he didn’t even have a name. fox, they said, for the red of his hair and the high slant of his cheeks. all the fire-raisers were like that: a collection of attributes fashioned into monikers. a girl with pale hair and a draconic temperament they called the silkwyrm. a young man some few years older, whose hair was an even darker shade of red, they called cockerel. another boy arrived a score of months after fox; he sang and sang in a voice so pure it could charm even the most hardened murderer to tears. him they called the piper, and fox hated him. he also loved him. he wanted him dead yet could not bear the thought of his death. but this came later.capricorn was a cruel master and an even more cunning man. he had a rough-handed washer woman shear off the mother-nurtured length of felix’s hair, leaving it uneven and closely cropped. he called him fox, if he called him any name at all, and would ignore the boy for days on end if he did not respond to his moniker with a dog’s enthusiasm. he sent the night guards to wake him at the crack of every dawn and tend the horses; then the mules; then the chickens. breakfast was a meagre portion of gruel, lunch whatever he managed to steal for himself, and dinner the scraps left over by the others. fox was typically the last to sleep and the first to rise, and every hour of his day was accounted for by the same rotation of menial tasks. hardly anyone ever spoke to him, save perhaps to make a jest at his expense, and he was punished for asking even a single question about his family beyond the fortress.capricorn took and took until there was nothing left of who fox had been before he stepped through the fire-raiser’s gates. only when he was carved and hollowed out, a yawning pit with no identity, did capricorn begin to fill the emptiness with pieces of himself. it began with a gift of two swords — a declaration, not kind, that fox was different. too small, at his age, to wield the long swords the fire-raisers tended towards. too weak, with his build, to hack a man to pieces. the pair of short swords were no better than an insult, really — but so, too, were they the first act of giving that fox had experienced in nigh six months. he trained until he could do with two swords what any other boy might do with one. he trained until he could do with two swords what no man could defend against with one.fox was a fast enough learner, to be true, but what set him apart was his keen need to prove himself. capricorn could tell him to do anything at all and fox would do it, if for no reason except to show that he could. capricorn sent him into the streets of ombra to collect from a man twice his size and thrice his strength. he returned bloody and bruised but carrying more coin than he’d been tasked with collecting. capricorn put him in argenta’s fighting pits and bet against him. he outmanoeuvred his opponent until the man collapsed and then cut his throat. capricorn sent him on his very first raid without a torch and told him to raze the building to dust. he started the fire with a sword blade and a stone and burnt the inn to the ground. no one survived — not even the cows in the neighbouring stable. that night, capricorn clapped him on the back and called him his fire fox.fox had grown up with a father’s love. he did not know what it was to live a life without it, nor how to survive the betrayal of having it taken away. capricorn was cruel, yes — but he was there. he was all encompassing. and fox, despite it all, never outgrew the boy who needed a father’s presence and guiding hand. it was perhaps the only part of felix that survived his transformation into the fox … and it would be both his saving grace as a fire-raiser and his catastrophic shortcoming as a person. there are, after all, few things more dangerous than a son who loves a bad father who is an even worse man.whether the sea goat, for his part, ever truly loved the fox as a son was not for anyone to decide — least of all the sea goat. firefox himself thought it so, and so it was so. this would soon prove to be everybody else’s problem.

. . HEIGHT . . 6'3", 190cm
. build. slim-athletic, like his father. tall and long-limbed, like his mother. stiff, mistrustful posture. leans back on heels while in conversation.
. . EYES . . silver, emanating a bright glow
. . HAIR . . ash blond, wavy texture
. style. dishevelled bangs cut above the brows. worn long, past the shoulders. thin, asymmetrical braids scattered throughout; affixed by and interwoven with plain leather bands.
. . NOTABLE FEATURES . . boyish face. blond eyebrows. runic tattoos. bright, unnatural eyes.
. . DRESSING STYLE . . thick, layered fabrics — typically in blue or gray. long sleeves and pant legs. pouches tied along the belts at his waist. fur-lined cloaks. leather fingerless gloves. cloth-wrapped boots. two throwing axes with engraved wooden hilts, one fastened on each side of the hip.
. . JEWELLERY . .
. ear cuffs. silver and gold cuffs in the shape of valkyrie wings. worn in lieu of wearing a crown while presiding over glitnir, as well as when embarking on official business on behalf of the aesir.
. light crystal pendant necklace. formerly belonging to his wife, unn. taken from alfheim. usually tucked beneath his clothes for safe-keeping. rarely taken off.
. . MBTI . . infj-a, with turbulent tendencies.
. the advocate. introverted, intuitive, feeling, judging, assertive.
. . TEMPERAMENT . . phlegmatic. empathetic, cooperative, considerate, imaginative, warm.
. . MORAL ALIGNMENT . . neutral good manipulated into acting in lawful neutral ways.
. note. in his service under odin, his moral alignment is challenged time and time again. he often acts opposite to his true moral ideals, furthering his cognitive dissonance.
. . DEFINING TRAITS . . intelligent, paranoid, detail-oriented, compassionate, reclusive, hard (over-)worker, pessimistic, disillusioned. optimistic, trusting, idealistic.
. . GOALS & IDEALS . . reducing violence across the nine-realms, promoting (and ensuring equal access to) justice, truth and reconciliation.
. . CONDITIONS . .
. paranoia. thought process disturbances that cause him to experience irrational suspicion and mistrust of others. frequent feelings of being misunderstood or disbelieved. developed and devolved over the slow course of many years. exacerbated by stress, manipulation, and gaslighting. underlies the tense and uncomfortable interactions between himself and others.
. burnout. mental fatigue that causes feelings of exhaustion, emotional distance, and cynicism. exacerbates his alienation from his peers and family. byproduct of chronic stress and pressure. often the subject of japes.
. ptsd. intrusive memories, negative thoughts and self-perceptions, overwhelming guilt, and increased irritability. caused by witnessing the murder of his wife, as well as his own violent reaction and the vengeance he sought.
. . PHYSICAL . .
. immortality. cannot die of old age. physically matures much slower than mortal beings. extremely difficult to kill.
. strength and durability. despite not being among the aesir known for their brawn, his godhood still grants him levels of strength far greater than mortal beings. his body is also much more durable, and he is able to withstand significant amounts of damage without becoming incapacitated or seriously wounded.
. stamina and endurance. forseti does not tire easily, and—if not sustaining any damage—is able to perform great feats without experiencing fatigue. these physical aspects of his godhood deteriorate along with his mental health and increased inability to sleep or rest.
. reflexes and speed. he is faster than the majority of other aesir, having inherited the ability to move at the speed of light from his father. his reflexes have been honed by years of training with heimdall, making him difficult to land a blow against unless taken severely off guard.
. combat. despite his pacifist nature, he was raised into becoming a skilled fighter. he prefers hand-to-hand combat for its ability to temper damage, and will always attempt to neutralize rather than kill. however, when backed into a corner, he is adept with his pair of axes—both at range and in close-quarters. his focus lies in defence rather than offence.
. . MAGICAL . .
. darkvision. able to see in the dark as in daylight, no matter how little light is available.
. clear sight. ability to see through glamours and illusions. immune to hallucinative spells.
. light manipulation. can envelop entire areas in blinding light or total darkness. utilized in combat to disorient opponents and neutralize visibility. he can also manifest light into tangible objects and weapons.
. light / dark form. can dematerialize himself on command by taking on the form of either light or darkness. utilized in combat to dodge blows that would otherwise land.
. truth & lie detection. able to tell whether or not someone is telling a direct lie to his face, no matter how convincing the person. as a passive ability, he cannot discern the specifics of the lie being told, nor what the actual truth is. this results in forseti interrogating people with question after question; his paranoia leads him to assume the worst, and he often speaks to others as though cross-examining them and trying to catch them in a lie.
. . WEAPONS . .
. axe(s). the pair of axes he uses are magically imbued, and can transform into a single great-axe on command. forseti rarely uses it as such, since the great-axe's intrinsic purpose is to be used as an executioner's blade to exact capital punishment. the axes were created by the dwarves and gifted to him by odin following his ascension to judge of glitnir.. . MENTAL . .
. intellect and intelligence. forseti's greatest strengths lie in his faculties of logic, understanding, and reasoning. he acquires new skills and knowledge at remarkable speeds, and his working memory is a nearly infallible source of information. he and his father are considered the best trackers among the aesir—though, unlike his father, forseti's own aptitude comes from his well-honed deductive and analytical skills. he is difficult to elude and harder still to outwit.
. polyglotism. able to speak the majority of languages used across the nine realms. he has spent many years studying the tongues of other cultures, citing an intrinsic inability to facilitate arbitration without communication. because of his rapid learning speeds, he is a quick study—no matter how foreign or ancient the language.

VOL. I: HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE BLOOD OF GODHOOD APPLIED SO LOVINGLY? SO CALLOUSLY? forseti is born the only child of baldur and nanna, the aesir gods of light and beauty / joy and the moon. his father is largely absent from his life, and he is left predominantly in the care of his mother. nanna raises him on tales of love and unity, canonizing týr's efforts to broker peace across the nine realms. in secret, she tells him stories about his vanir grandmother and great uncle. their peace-loving people. how freyr travelled to alfheim to reconcile the elves and mediate their endless war. he begins to idolize his uncles—one believed dead long before his birth, the other a branded enemy of the aesir. his increasingly pacifist nature does not escape odin's attention; forseti is a promising pupil of history and strategy, but in private the allfather confesses thus: the young god's greatest flaw is that he takes after his mother.his father has not been well for a very long time. forseti doesn't remember a time when baldur was anything other than mad, but his mother tells him stories of the Before. tells him not to linger on the After—that this is not who baldur is, but what he has been made into. she tells him not to resent baldur for the things he cannot change in himself. for all the indifference and relative hostility he experiences from his father, forseti chooses not to hate him. he does not know it at the time, but he will make this choice a thousand times. he will make this choice for the rest of his life. he watches his father lose his mind and forces himself not to take it to heart.
sensitive souls have no place among the aesir, and he grows up an outlier among his own kin. far from meek, however, he does not shy away from arguing the finities of power and aesir rule until he is blue in the face. he challenges the accounts of history he is told and rejects the indoctrinated understanding accepted by many in his family. odin is patient with his dissenting grandson, for his resistance does not stem from disloyalty; rather, his vehement opposition of the status quo originates from his personal moral code and an innate sense of justice. forseti cannot stand to witness—much less accept—injustices in the world, and this puts him at odds with the actions of his family. in an attempt to give forseti something to siphon his righteousness into, odin names him to the presiding seat of glitnir.this, however, does little to satiate his desire to change the ways of the world. glitnir, once the court of all realms, has devolved primarily into an ornery hall where asgardians come to settle petty disputes. bored, frustrated, and disillusioned, he abdicates the seat of glitnir. in the same breath, he announces that he will be leaving asgard to live among the elves in alfheim, keen to put an end to their centuries-old war. a vicious spat ensues between him and his family; his vanir blood and bleeding-heart become the subject of cruel insult, and he is told, in no uncertain terms, that leaving asgard will make him no better than a traitor to the realm. before the matter can further escalate, odin intervenes. he tells forseti that he is free to go to alfheim, and that he is always welcome to return home. the following morning, the young god bids his mother and grandfather farewell and departs for the land of the elves.VOL. II: I AM HERE TO REJOICE, TO RESOLVE, TO REVENGE. for all of his good intentions, forseti does not earn his way into alfheim on his own merits. it is the elves’ consecration of freyr that opens the door––the blood in his veins, shared with a great uncle never met. aesir gods are not welcome in the temple of light, but the elves allow forseti to walk among them due to his vanir lineage. they have waited so long for freyr's return that, in his absence, forseti is accepted to be the peace-bringer foretold by legend.for years he lives among the elves, learning their ways and their customs. their oral histories. their struggles and hopes and connections to the light of alfheim. during the day he stays with the ljósálfar, currently the governing population, at the temple of light. at night he walks among the dökkálfar in their refuge beneath the earth. the light elves, their power over alfheim consolidated, welcome him with willing pride. his acceptance among the dark elves, however, is contingent on a careful balance––his impartiality between dark and light, never to prioritize the ruling population above their own. forseti vows fairness, forever of just mind.
his ambassador to the light elves is the daughter and heir apparent of the reigning queen. unn has spent a lifetime watching her people abase themselves –– lie, steal, kill, and fall on their own swords at the feet of their false king, the Light. she is both scholar and warrior, challenging forseti’s idealism while collaborating in his cause. hers is a story of quiet rebellion, and hers is a story doomed by the hubris of men and gods. hers is a story doomed whenthey wed in secret. they wed for love and longing at the foot of a waterfall bleeding starlight, binding their hands together while naught but a pair of ravens, hidden away, bear witness.❛ 𝚆𝙷𝙰𝚃 𝚆𝙾𝚄𝙻𝙳 𝚈𝙾𝚄 𝙳𝙾 𝙵𝙾𝚁 𝙿𝙴𝙰𝙲𝙴? ❜ 𝙷𝙴 𝙰𝚂𝙺𝚂 𝙷𝙴𝚁 𝙾𝙽𝙴 𝙽𝙸𝙶𝙷𝚃. 𝚆𝙷𝙰𝚃 𝙲𝙾𝚄𝙻𝙳 𝚈𝙾𝚄? ❜after nigh a decade of peace building efforts, forseti petitions the elves to attend a reconciliatory meeting. both courts agree; both the rulers, along with their chief advisors and personal guard, meet to negotiate a peace between their peoples. all attendees are asked to relinquish their weapons –– save forseti, who vows to maintain order and ensure protection for all those present.but it was not to be.the dark elf king betrays the truce, striking down unn with a concealed blade. he accuses the light elves of corrupting the peace. forseti has sided with the ljósálfar, he claims. he has married their princess, and so broken all pretenses of equity and neutrality. but it is not the godlings fault, of course. unn, the wicked temptress of her people, led him astray. the light elves conspired against peace from the beginning, and with aesir godhood on their side, they schemed to eradicate the dark elves for once and for all. without the princess to interfere, perhaps peace might finally be achievable.unn dies the moment the blade slips between her ribs; she dies, surprised and confused but mercifully unaware of what was to come. there would be no peace. forseti succumbs to blind rage, slaughtering the dark elves where they stand. they cannot defend themselves against his onslaught, and still he does not care, for vengeance and justice are two sides of the very same coin.at the end of the massacre, forseti flees the realm –– broken in mind, spirit, and resolve. in the aftermath, alfheim descends once more into an irreparable war. unn enters the histories as a temptress and destroyer of the peace. he is not there to rectify his wrongs, nor even to defend the memory of a wife he once swore to protect.
what forseti could not know is that it was odin who betrayed his secrets –– who spun a narrative of lies and maledict until the dark elf king could do nothing but yield to the paranoia festering within himself. the ravens saw the wedding, and the ravens whispered to the wind, the trees, the earth; and they, in turn, all whispered to the elves.the allfather had no use for a second týr, but he knew that his grandson's ideals could not be forced into submission by the heavy hand of the aesir. he needed forseti to see for himself that the reality of life beyond asgard is unendingly cruel, and that there can exist no justice, no peace, without the sword. if forseti was to break, he first needed to splinter beneath his own yoke. and that he did.VOL. III: HUMBLE THYSELF. IF THE POISON DOES NOT TAKE YOU, THE RAVENS WILL. ravaged by grief, a defeated forseti returns to asgard. odin welcomes him back and offers him his former position as the judge of glitnir. resigned to the barbarism of the world, he accepts.
MAIN VERSE, ARC I: THE RECONCILER. pre-alfheim. a young god, idealistic and naive as to the realities of the world — and his own family. forseti undermines aesir interests at every turn by pursuing justice on behalf of those the gods might rather see disenfranchised. odin attempts to distract his righteous and rebelling grandson by making him the judge of glitnir, court of realms. at first, forseti accepts gladly, believing that the position will allow him to defend the defenceless and enact systematic change across the realms. it soon becomes clear, however, that glitnir is little more than an ornery hall — a distraction with which to temper forseti’s aspirations for change. for years he is kept busy, investigating and prosecuting crimes that pass through glitnir, until he eventually comes to realize his own futility. chagrined and disenchanted, he abdicates the position and embarks on a mission to resolve the war in alfheim.MAIN VERSE, ARC II: THE TAXMAN. post-alfheim, including the events of god of war and god of war: ragnarök. forseti struggles to come to terms with his failures in the realm of the elves. burdened with feelings of guilt and shame, he buries himself in his work as a distraction. most of his time is spent settling petty disputes among the aesir or investigating places and people on behalf of odin. his rule over glitnir becomes less concerned with reconciliation and more concerned with punitive justice—at the behest of aesir values, he slowly begins to forego restitution in favour of retribution. an eye for an eye.[ following the deaths of baldur, magni, and modi. ] weary of the death and destruction that seems to plague the life of all aesir, forseti begins to withdraw further still. he is deeply troubled with the state of the world, and spends long hours in his room burying himself in books. in the years leading up to ragnarök, he spends less time presiding over glitnir and more time investigating his own conspiracies. the more he uncovers about his families' transgressions, the less he is able to sleep. his paranoia worsens to the point of dysfunction; he no longer trusts the majority of those around him, believing everyone capable of any number of heinous deeds.MAIN VERSE, ARC III: THE AVENGER. the fall of asgard pushes forseti to the brink, and when his mother — ravaged by grief following ragnarök — takes her own life, he breaks. paranoid, unpredictable, and traumatized by the violent destruction of all he has known, he seeks to enact vengeance against those responsible for the fall of asgard. any and all conceptions of justice have been undermined; his moral code has been eroded over the course of many years; and he no longer believes in any sort of moral right or wrong. with his entire worldview laying decimated at his feet, he stands for nothing and has less than nothing left to lose. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.his quest for vengeance eventually leads him to discover the truth about his kin — notably his grandfather, odin, and the harm he reaped across the realms. harm that forseti was complicit in. ever the bloodhound, he slowly unravels the web of lies and murder woven by his family. horrified — and newly sensitized to the historical suffering of those responsible for the fall of asgard — he sets aside his vow of retribution for one of reconciliation.MAIN VERSE, ARC IV: THE LEGACY. returned to reason, forseti joins freya’s council of realms as the god of justice, reconciliation, and now — following his mother’s death — peace. glitnir is re-established as the court of all realms, and forseti resumes his duties as presiding judge. he has not entirely recovered from his years of manipulation, grief, and mental anguish, however. he has become a husk consumed by both grief and shame, not entirely free from the lingering thralls of his grandfather and his deception. struggling to recover his sense of self and purpose, he sets off across the realms to address the transgressions of the aesir, as well as right his own wrongs — starting with alfheim.DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. for centuries, forseti’s uncle, tyr, walked the forgotten realms as the god of law and justice. he was a major deity of the faerûnian pantheon, and the leader of the triad — comprised of himself, torm, and ilmater. tyr, however, would eventually sacrifice himself to prevent a demonic invasion of the upper realms. in his absence, torm became the new master of celestia.asgard, home of the norse pantheon from which tyr hailed, falls during the second sundering. with the majority of the aesir dead, those who survived the sundering (manifesting in asgard as ragnarök) scatter to the wind. forseti, following in the footsteps of an uncle who died well before his time, travels to the forgotten realms. serving a near century as the god of justice in his own pantheon, he assumes tyr’s domain, sparking rumours that tyr — like so many other forgotten, deceased, or otherwise disenfranchised gods — came back to life during the second sundering.forseti serves as a neutral good god of justice; he champions reconciliation rather than law, as tyr did, and falls under neutral alignment rather than lawful. he has a somewhat tense relationship with torm and ilmater, who do not yet trust him to be the paragon of good he claims to be. he walks the forgotten realms unrecognized, defending justice and promoting reconciliation wherever his intervention is needed most. forseti tends to concern himself with mortal matters rather than immortal matters, preferring to live amongst those who would benefit from his — or tyr’s — aid.those that worship tyr, in actuality, worship forseti posing as tyr. he is functionally lying to followers of tyr by allowing them to believe he is tyr come back to life. the effects this may have on clerics and paladins specifically, due to his differing alignment from his uncle (neutral good vs lawful good), is unknown to him as a newcomer to the realm. in matters of worship, he assumes his uncle’s identity; in all other instances, he goes by his born-name and keeps his godhood secret.the events of baldur’s gate 3 take place five years after forseti’s arrival in faerûn.BALDUR'S GATE III. builds on the general d&d verse. in an attempt to solidify his place within the triad, forseti actively opposes those gods whose morality and domains he disavows — notably bane, bhaal, and talos. at the beginning of the events of bg3, forseti sets out to investigate and bring to justice the cult of bhaal. he masquerades as a sword of tyr hailing from the abbey of the blinding truth in westgate, and claims to be a human monk.his investigation follows the supposed disappearance of the dark urge, whom he tracks to the risen road. the party meets forseti after their encounter with the paladins of tyr, who forseti claims to be investigating on behalf of the church. he actively disavows their actions and proclaims them traitors to their god. if the party has chosen to help the paladins at the cost of karlach, he condemns their decision. if they have killed the paladins of tyr, he questions the party in an effort to learn as much as he can about his disgraced followers. after this meeting, he can be recruited as a tadpole-free companion.although he suspects the dark urge character as being the bhaalspawn he is tracking, forseti will not address his suspicions directly until act 2. at this time, his conspiracies come across as the ravings of a paranoid madman. as the plot progresses, however, the truth comes to light — and with it, forseti’s vindication. depending on how the party chooses to approach the cult of bhaal, he either stays with them in order to defeat the cult or turns on them for choosing to aid it. regardless of what the party chooses to do, forseti inevitably reveals the truth of his identity — that is, that he is the newly seated god of justice, and that the origin story he assumed throughout the duration of the party’s adventure was a carefully constructed lie.prior to admitting his true identity, any perceptive cleric or paladin of tyr may already note that he does not act entirely in accordance with tyr’s teachings, and that he is notably more merciful and morally fluid than his supposed patron.GENERAL MYTHOS + PANTHEON CROSSOVERS. this verse does not necessarily incorporate the events of god of war (2018) or god of war: ragnarök. in general, this verse focuses on forseti as the god of his domain, struggling to uphold justice in an increasingly unjust world. overworked and overwhelmed, he does not present as the refined god that one might expect to find at the head of a supreme court. he often leaves the halls of glitnir to travel realms, both in search of knowledge and in order to intervene where he believes he is needed. forseti may interact with other pantheons in order to build and maintain relationships — or to unwittingly spy on behalf of the all-father.GENERAL CROSSOVER. due to existence of realm travel, cross-over verses can take place in any number of fictional universes and settings. in all cross-overs, forseti is the god of justice and reconciliation in his respective pantheon. he travels the realms in order to broker peace between peoples in conflict, as well as investigate particularly heinous crimes that would otherwise go unpunished. he is typically aligned with social good, and intervenes in any strife or war where injustices are at play.

by all accounts, malcolm was described as soft of face, with features reminiscent of boyish youth. he had a doe’s eyes, as gentle as they were observant, and an enduringly mild expression. he lacked the strong appearance that a king and ruler ought have, however. the ladies of the court agreed that his cheeks were entirely too round, and his lips, when not held in a perfectly magnanimous smile, too full and pouting for a lad.

the princeling was dark-headed, as his father, and pale-skinned, as his mother. it was said he once bore the former’s crown of curls, but that he sheared them off with shepherd’s tools, and when soon they grew long again, they were despondently straight. near-after his return to the throne, his hair began to petrify at the roots and grow white. by the time malcolm met his royal end at the age of thirty and five, the undertaker observed that he was grey as the hounds he was known to favour.
malcolm never met a living creature that he did not love. when the prince was but a boy of ten, his father caught him sneaking platefuls of the finest banquet dishes to prisoners below the keep. duncan gave him a profuse scolding, and banned his eldest from the dungeons. malcolm was inconsolable. he would not leave his chambers for three days and nights, for he could not bear the thought of his friends going hungry. his mother’s ladies-in-waiting cooed sweetly at him, and the high priest proclaimed that the prince was a most good-hearted lad. the king, however, would not name an heir so meek and mild to the throne. malcolm was sent off to war, and when he returned, the kindly boy had become an honourable man. when next he paid visit to the dungeons, it was to deliver justice unto a man that he himself had found guilty under law. the prisoner confessed his sins freely, for malcolm had retained his peculiar ability to make strangers feel loved by him. the prince forgave him readily, even as the noose was fitted around his neck, and the man died happy and absolved. or so the story goes.ALIGNMENT. lawful good with neutral tendencies

MENTAL. depression, paranoia ( arc v, with early indicators appearing in arc vi )there were few left alive in the wake of macbeth’s rule to attest to the change that had occurred within the young man, and so the general opinion was one of amazement: that malcolm had survived his parents’ murder and the strenuous years that followed with both mind and soul intact. he had hardened and wisened in tandem, but surely this was for the better. he was kingly and noble, so the fact that he seemed fixedly troubled could be forgiven. the increasing fits of brooding could be ignored. those close to him believed him thoughtful, while his enemies considered his reserved personality a sign of weakness and self-righteousness. the truth was most likely threefold.
ARC I. THE PRINCE OF CUMBERLAND. 13-16. malcolm spends three years fighting alongside the scottish army. he serves with and trains under macbeth, who is cousin and general to his father. malcolm gifts macbeth with an ornery dagger as an act of thanks and appreciation. after scotland wins its wars against norway and an uprising of irish mercenaries, the country settles back into a tentative peace. the army returns home, and malcolm is named heir to the throne. macbeth notes that malcolm now stands between him and kingship, and that he must either give up now or otherwise dispose of the prince. conspiring with his lady wife, macbeth murders king duncan and queen solrún; they frame malcolm by using the gifted dagger and planting it at the scene. upon discovering his murdered parents, malcolm wakes donalbain. the two flee, suspecting a treasonous plot against them. the brothers are found guilty of kin(g)slaying and stripped of their titles, as well as any claim to the scottish throne. macbeth becomes king.ARC II. THE FISHERMAN'S SON. 16-21. the brothers ride to the coast, where malcolm sells his remaining possessions to purchase donalbain safe passage to the irish court. he keeps only a ring belonging to his father, taken from the body upon discovery of the murder. malcolm waits until donalbain’s ship disappears on the horizon and then sets off across the country on horseback. he takes on various odd jobs and contracts on his way through scotland, never daring to stay any one place for too long. while working as a farmhand, malcolm crops his hair short with shepherd’s shears. after several months of living on the run, he arrives on the northern coast with intentions to make enough coin to charter a ship to norway and petition the king for support. here, in the town of port saoidh, he finds permanent work and lodging with an elderly couple, who hire him as a fisherman for their market stall in return for room and board. he spends five years with them, during which time he sets aside his claim to the throne and settles for an ordinary life. he hides his father’s ring, worn on a chain, behind a loose stone in the wall of his room. cináed and ùna, whose grown sons died in the war against irish mercenaries, come to embrace malcolm as their own. during all this time, malcolm retains contact with donalbain through letters.ARC III. THE PEASANT KING. 21-26. macduff, upon finding donalbain in ireland, convinces the boy to reveal malcolm’s location to him. when macduff arrives in port saoidh, it takes some time to convince the suspicious and reluctant malcolm to pursue his legal claim to the throne. macduff appeals to his honour, but also his empathy and his grief. eventually, malcolm sets aside his newfound life of peace and happiness in order to, as he believes it, save scotland from its cruel fate. he bids a teary farewell to cináed and ùna, promising to repay their years of love and hospitality once he has secured the throne. malcolm retrieves his father’s ring from its hiding place and departs for england with macduff. he spends two years in the court of king edward, raising forces great enough to challenge macbeth’s own army. king edward betroths his youngest daughter to malcolm to seal an alliance, though the two are not to marry until the scottish throne has been won. with a scottish-english army at his command, malcolm returns to scotland. he spends the next three years engaged in a bloody civil war against macbeth loyalists. when they finally reach the traitorous usurper, macduff robs malcolm of his justice by slaying macbeth himself.ARC IV. THE FAIR-MINDED. 26-31. malcolm is crowned king of scotland and marries his betrothed, princess matilda of england. donalbain returns home from the irish court. over the next several years, malcolm and matilda have three children together––two sons and a daughter. for the first time in as long, scotland knows peace. malcolm’s rule is underpinned by peace and prosperity, as well as reconciliation between scotland and the scandinavian countries. he offers to buy cináed and ùna a fleet of ships and fishermen, but they decline; all they request is that he come visit when he can. he does so until they die of natural age, always with his wife and children in tow. despite his harmonious rule, however, malcolm struggles with ailing mental health. the years of struggling have taken their toll, and he frequently languishes through depressive episodes and spells of anxiety. it is following the birth of his eldest that the three witches first pay him visit, haunting his dreams with prophecies of death and misfortune. they sow seeds of paranoia in an already fraying mind, promising that those close to him will one day conspire to kill his oldest son and take the throne for themselves. mistrustful by nature following the events of his child- and young-adulthood, malcolm begins to see evil lurking around every bend.ARC V. THE MAD KING. 31-35. in his desperation to save his family the same cruel fate that met his parents, malcolm begins to rule his council and nobles with an iron fist. he quickens to punish disobedience, which he perceives as acts of treachery and ill-will, and soon begins to have those suspected of plotting against him executed without trial. the witches visit his dreams every night now, and the ailing king sleeps less and less. he becomes erratic and infirm, often shutting himself in his chambers for long spells at a time. paranoia drives his every decision and festers resentment between him and his subjects. malcolm refuses to eat because he suspects poison in every meal, and loses weight until he becomes gaunt and sickly. his hair greys at a remarkable pace, giving him an altogether haggard appearance, and his eyes grow wild. by the end of his descent into madness, malcolm is no longer even the barest approximation of himself. donalbain, out of love for who is brother had been and out of fear for his country, resolves to kill malcolm. he steals into his chambers at night and smothers the king to death with a pillow. in the morning, the physician declares malcolm’s passing a natural affair. donalbain becomes king regent until malcolm’s eldest, duncan, grows of age.
VERSES
MACBETH. THE KINGSLAYER. malcolm, heir to the scottish throne, must flee after being accused of kin(g)slaying by the traitor macbeth. stripped of his innocence and all that he has known, he spends half a decade in hiding. resigning to the course of his fate, he builds a new life in a harbour town as the adoptive son of an elderly fisherman and his wife. when macduff, a noble and friend loyal to his father, beseeches him to save scotland from macbeth’s bloody reign, malcolm reluctantly agrees to reclaim his birthright. he departs for england, where he petitions the throne for aid and begins to amass a sizeable force. when he returns to scotland to challenge macbeth, he unwittingly launches the country into years of bloody civil war. when he finally wins the throne, the victory seems phyrric. with his father’s murder avenged and macbeth’s crimes answered for, malcolm begins his reign predicated on peace and harmony. as the years go by, however, the lasting effects of his past begin to rear their head. the madness creeps in slowly, but soon it has consumed him mind-and-body. to protect the country against a mad king’s whims, malcolm is smothered to death in his sleep by the very brother he once sacrificed everything for in order to save.THE WITCHER. THE OATH BREAKER. human. noble background. faltering paladin of torm. oath of the crown. malcolm stands to inherit the high throne of the moonshae isles from his father — a ffolk descendent of the high king tristan kendrick — and his mother — the daughter of a prominent northlander jarl. he is raised into the church of torm, where he trains as a paladin during his father’s peaceful rule over a unified moonshae.but the peace does not last. for centuries, clerics of the triad attempted to instil their beliefs among citizens of moonshae, only to be driven out by adherents to the religions native to the isles. when duncan ascended the throne, however, he allowed the churches of the triad to establish themselves across the nation — causing a religious rift between himself and his denizens. some twenty years into his rule, a northlander warrior loyal to the destruction god talos incites a rebellion against the high king. duncan and solrún are murdered and ffolk monarchy abolished. in the wake of the northlander uprising, malcolm and his brother flee the isles.donalbain takes to waterdeep, and malcolm to baldur’s gate; there, he works the docks in exchange for room and board. he lives the life of a baldurian fisherman for some time, tending boats and mending fishing lines. eventually, he sets aside all aspirations of regaining his birthright and ascending to rule the moonshae isles.in renouncing his claim to the throne and settling for a life of dormancy, however, malcolm inadvertently breaks his oath of the crown. the repercussions are manyfold. his magic fades, festers, and finally begins to eat away at him; his broken oath fractures the part of his soul it was woven into, leaving him vulnerable to influence and corruption; and his divine health forsakes him, causing him to take ill frequently and severely.malcolm leaves baldur’s gate for the village of torm’s hand, where he petitions their church for aid in treating his affliction. the priest issues him an ultimatum: complete three quests on behalf of each church of the triad (torm, tyr, and ilmater), or suffer the consequences of forsaking both church and duty. struggling faith in hand, malcolm sets off across faerûn to redeem his oath and restore his honour. details on the trials to follow.note that his status as a faltering paladin has diminished some of his class features, and other characters might be able to sense or deduce his wavering faith. he is also more vulnerable to corruption and manipulation.BALDUR'S GATE III. who are the children of the vault ( and like ... why? )
the COV are a cult of personality. the calypsos are praised and flattered at every turn, deified by their loyal devotees. anyone who questions the word of the twin gods is immediately killed for being a heretic. posters bearing their faces abound across the galaxy, as well as places of worship erected in their names.
the twins use the ECHOnet ( see also: borderlands internet ) to stream live- and pre-recorded broadcasts to a largely illiterate population, thus ensuring that they reach a wider audience. they cater their content to what their followers want to see and frequently engage with their viewers through events and pledge-drives. the calypsos are almost always broadcasting — and when they aren’t, then one of the higher ranking cult members is. by the events of borderlands 3, the children of the vault are omnipresent. they are militaristic in force and influence, and number in the billions.
although they are both worshiped as gods by their followers, tyreen is the figurehead and penultimate leader, while troy assumes the secondary role of propagandist. in other words: tyreen is the charisma and troy the cunning.
the cov's cause? on paper: to locate and open the mystical “great vault”, whereupon every active member of the COV will be showered in riches and power in abundance. in reality: not so much. the calypso twins aspire to godhood. to achieve real deification, they must leech the legendary creature known as “the destroyer”, which is said to reside within. in so doing, they will gain its powers and become gods.
holy is the mouth that bleeds,
the calypso twins are pseudo-religious cult leaders who weaponize mass media to rally followers to their cause. naturally, said cause is self-serving and their devotees don’t mean shit to them — but that’s all part of the deal! TRADE OFFER RECEIVED: the twins get godhood, and their loyal disciples get to sacrifice themselves in ways that will go unmourned and unacknowledged by the very same leaders that they died for. WHEN YOU SPLIT ME AND MY BROTHER IN THE WOMB ...
HAIR. two-toned ( blond and brown ). naturally dark brown.
EYES. blue
SKIN. medium-dark toned. skin type iv.
HEIGHT. 5’6
TATTOOS. blue siren markings ( left arm )
PIERCINGS. none.
SCARS. three horizontal scars across her face. large surgical scar on her back from where she and troy were separated.
PHYSICAL. tyreen appears short in contrast to her brother, and it’s a common misassumption that she’s small and spritely; when people see her in person, however, they are often surprised to see that tyreen is of notably average height and build. she isn’t tiny, and she's far from frail. she’ll look you in the eyes and kick your ass. she is also better kept and groomed than most, and puts effort into her physical appearance.
NOTABLE FEATURES. large eyes. button nose. scars. siren tattoo. carefully applied eyeliner.
PERSONALITY. cruel, charismatic, and confident — a trifecta of defining traits that she shares with her brother. tyreen is shallow. she is a talented actress who lacks the emotional depth to understand the rhetoric that she champions. she is a natural manipulator who lies to get her way. she cares for nothing that does not appeal to her delusions of grandeur, and regards everything and everyone with disdain. she readily mocks those around her and treats matters of life, death, and suffering like a game.
NOTE. tyreen scorns troy for his parasitic nature and openly resents him for it. however, she does not allow others to disrespect him, as it would leave his leadership of the COV—and by extension her own—vulnerable to criticism.
MENTAL. narcissism. god complex.
MBTI. ENTJ-A –– the commander
MORAL ALIGNMENT. chaotic evil
ABILITIES | |
---|---|
PHASELEECH. | the ability to absorb energy and transform it into raw strength, as well as absorb the life force and powers of other living creatures. tyreen’s use of phaseleech is incredibly powerful; she can easily drain people into husks and absorb the impact of grenades. she is also able to taste who- and whatever she leeches, and relies on leeching as her primary source of nourishment. tyreen is not always able to control how much she drains from people, and has accidentally killed those closest to her more than once. |
PHASEWALK. | the ability, leeched from the siren lilith, to turn invisible and move faster than light. unlike lilith, tyreen is able to use phasewalk to transport both herself and others across long distances. |
FLIGHT. | when using her abilities, tyreen can manifest spectral wings that give her the power to fly. |
COMBAT. | tyreen is skilled at hand-to-hand, martial combat. |

HEIGHT. 6’7
TATTOOS. red siren markings on his left arm and temple. heavily tattooed on the arms, chest, and torso.
PIERCINGS. stretched lobes.
SCARS. multiple surgical scars and external surgical plates, including on the face.
PHYSICAL. troy is missing his right arm and wears a mechatronic prosthetic. he is sickly by nature and unnaturally tall — to the extent that his ailing body cannot fully support itself. he is very slim and has multiple mechatronic braces grafted to his bones, most notably along the spine, neck, and knees. after killing maya and absorbing her powers, he becomes remarkably less infirm and no longer seems to struggle with his health.
NOTABLE FEATURES. height. bionic (prosthetic) arm. piercings. siren tattoo. smudged eyeliner.
PERSONALITY. cruel, charismatic, and confident — a trifecta of defining traits that he shares with his sister. troy is more cunning than tyreen, but no less insolent. he tends toward emotion where his sister does not, and even displays inklings of humanity from time to time. he is emotionally perceptive, though not empathetic, and uses this to manipulate members of the COV. ironically, he himself is overly trusting of others. in contrast to tyreen, troy is awkward — veering on the dorky. he is easily excitable, disarmingly giddy, and eccentric to the point of oddity.
NOTE. in general, troy is not submissive to anyone but his sister. he isn’t meek or particularly obedient by nature, and he does consider himself superior to others.

THE CALYPSO FAMILY HISTORY CHEAT SHEET
childhood speedrun compilation (4K HD)
• legacy nepobabies … but that’s nobody’s business. shut up about it.
• born on the alien planet of nekrotafeyo to famed adventurer typhon de leon — the first vault hunter.
• tyreen’s siren leeching abilities manifested in the womb and caused her to partially absorb troy. they have no way of knowing this, of course; all anyone knows for sure is that they became conjoined, and troy developed into a parasitic twin that depended on tyreen to survive.
• because they developed as conjoined twins, troy absorbed some of tyreen’s powers in the womb. this made him the only male siren to ever exist.
• typhon separated his children shortly after birth. tyreen has a scar on her back from the procedure, while troy is missing his right arm in its entirety.
• they were raised on a planet otherwise uninhabited by humanity and spent their childhood in seclusion. because sirens are the rarest creatures in the galaxy — and therefore at risk from marauders who would co-opt their powers for their own gain — the de leons chose to keep their children isolated from society. in the twins' perception, they were kept locked in a cage and forced to watch the world go by.
• tyreen leeched and killed their mother, leda de leon, in order to keep troy alive during a particularly devastating bout of illness. after this incident, their father kept tyreen—and by extension troy—on an even shorter leash.
• troy grew up believing himself a freak and a parasite, while tyreen grew up believing herself a monster.
• tyreen manipulated troy into repairing their father’s ship as a means of escape. troy did not want to abandon their father on nekrotafeyo, but—unable to survive without tyreen—had no choice but to go with her.
• while working to establish the COV, the twins changed their last name from de leon to calypso. they are not forthcoming about the identity of their folk-legend father, and claim to have been born from the nekrotafeyan vault itself.
VERSES
NOTE. across all verses, the cult’s structure remains the same. both siblings are recognized as gods by their followers, but tyreen is the indisputable leader. she is the face of the cult, while troy occupies the secondary role of propagandist. he curates tyreen’s image behind-the-scenes; however, as his own powers grow, he starts stepping into the spotlight himself. tyreen is referred to as god queen, and troy eventually begins to style himself as god king. together, they are referred to as the twin gods.in every verse, the twins are born and raised off-planet. where this is varies — but it’s narratively important that they are brought up in relative isolation, far removed from the rest of humanity. they’re not aliens; they’re humans raised on an alien planet.
CANON
what it says on the tin. adheres to the events of bl3, up until the confrontation between the vault hunter and troy.CANON DIVERGENCE: during the confrontation with the vault hunter, tyreen begs troy to stop leeching her. she cries out, pained, that he’s killing her — and troy ignores her pleas. after years of being subservient to his sister’s whims and demands — as well as being dependent on her to survive — he turns on tyreen. he leeches her until she dies and, in acquiring her ability to drain the life force of any living creature, assures his own survival.after tyreen’s death, the children of the vault succumb to violent in-fighting. the cult splits into two factions: those loyal to tyreen and her legacy, and those loyal to troy and his continuing ascension.troy, drunk on power, becomes a worse monster than tyreen ever was. he slaughters one half of the cult — the tyreen loyalists — without mercy, and rapidly destroys the other half — his own loyalists — by draining their life forces to make himself even stronger. troy, now in possession of the abilities of maya, lilith, and tyreen, is the single most powerful siren to ever exist — but also wildly unstable.
MASS EFFECT
the calypsos are born and raised on the long-lost prothean homeworld. when they are old enough to escape the guardianship of their father, they use mass relay technology to travel to earth. there, they establish their cult: they unify the underrepresented and the underprivileged under the guise of protection. they are not the military. they are not politicians. they are people — and they are for the people. the calypsos promise their followers defense against the reapers and the whims of the citadel alike, often inciting open rebellion against the reigning galactic institutions.despite their claims, what the calypsos actually seek are the leviathans — the apex species of the galaxy — in order to leech their powers and ascend to godhood. although they are not active antagonists in this verse, they are still fame-hungry monsters who sacrifice their own followers to sustain themselves.the twins occasionally work together with cerberus to gain access to their intel. they are, however, neither pro-human nor anti-alien. the calypsos do not seek to elevate humanity as cereberus does. they only seek to elevate themselves, even at the cost of everybody else.
CONTEMPORARY
the calypsos are superheroes to those who worship them and supervillains to those who do not. their cult is mostly comprised of young people who are disillusioned by the state of the world and seek to rebel against the very institutions that failed them. the calypsos feed into this malcontent, inciting riots among their followers. yeah they’re on tiktok. yeah they got banned from twitch and started their own streaming platform. yeah they’re probably 4chan mods in their free-time.the twins actively drain and kill other superpowered individuals, absorbing their abilities and their strength in the process. they seek to find the strongest superhero by hosting competition shows and personally scouting potential contenders — all with the end goal of draining these people of their powers.in this verse, they are not actively antagonists unless directly challenged by those who would stop them. that being said, they are killing people for personal gain and will inevitably cain and abel each other. so. </3 they’re still the villains of their own story.
X-MEN
the same as the general contemporary verse, except that COV is exclusively made up of mutants. the calypso twins capitalize on growing tensions by promising one thing: mutant liberation and dominion. followers sacrifice themselves to tyreen, knowing that she will absorb their abilities and gradually grow in strength. the cult sees tyreen as the mutant god, destined to rise against humanity and stop their mistreatment of post-humans — permanently. when tyreen dies at the hands of her own brother, the cult falls to cataclysmic infighting, unleashing unprecedented chaos and violence in its wake.in this verse, the twins are active antagonists of the x-men. they are, however, also at odds with the brotherhood of mutants, due to their flippant disregard of mutant lives.
